For its founding freshman class, Pi High will focus on recruiting low-income students, students of color and English language learners who may be the first members of their families to attend college. Once enrolled, Pi High students will receive a strong academic foundation, plus specialized career preparation, in a supportive learning community. The school is being designed to set high expectations for all students to develop as reflective learners, critical thinkers, self-managers and effective team members.
Humanities and STEM interdisciplinary classes will be team-taught and provide students with opportunities to complete innovative projects on collaborative teams. As part of their Year Four curriculum, Pi High students will participate in ten days of career experience in the arts, interactive technology and/or communications in the offices of key industries and institutions. To graduate, all Pi High students will be required to pass state-mandated tests, present a culminating art+tech project, and complete their individual High School & Beyond Plan. To ensure success, students who require additional academic support will be asked to attend Summer School before and during their high school career at Pi High. >Next: Who? Families |
