With the 21st century hailing the Age of Technology, STEM public education is promoted by the White House as “essential to virtually every goal we have as a nation -- whether it's broadly shared economic prosperity, international competitiveness, a strong national defense, a clean energy future, and longer, healthier lives for all Americans."
At Pi High, we envision a rigorous secondary school education where the "A" is inserted into STEM to unite arts and culture with programming and interactive technology. Our proposed STEAM model emphasizes project-based arts learning integrated with discovery-based STEM learning. By expanding the limits of STEM with an experiential curriculum in the visual and liberal arts, Pi High students receive a contextualized high school education -- rich with the humanities, creativity and innovation. Pi High seeks to prepare its graduates to enter and complete college programs, and to join the burgeoning creative industries sector now numbering nearly three million professionals across the country. "Arts businesses and the creative people they employ stimulate innovation, strengthen America's competitiveness in the global marketplace, and play an important role in building and sustaining economic vibrancy."
